While the heart may be synonymous with Valentine’s Day, perhaps cupid simply got it wrong as when your feet are feeling great your whole body feels good. On the other hand, when your feet hurt you just seem to be in pain all over.

The good news is that there are some simple things that you can do to start to fall in love your with aching feet all over again this Valentine’s Day. You don’t have to make a lot of changes in your daily foot care routine but just a few simple modifications and perhaps one or two additions and deletions and you will be very happy with each other again.

Check Your Shoes

You may be surprised to find that you are wearing the wrong sized shoes. Many adults, both men and women, don’t routinely have their feet sized. However, as we age and change our feet do the same. Going into a good quality shoe store or the next time you are at your podiatrist ask to have your feet sized and choose shoes that fit like a glove.

In addition look carefully at the construction of the shoe. Shoes that are built to provide arch support and support on the sole and heel are going to help fight foot fatigue and also give you more confidence when moving about.

A Nice Soak

There are many wonderful aromatherapy and essential oil soaks out there that are perfect for your feet at the end of the day. Great choices include Epsom salts with a bit of baking soda and warm water combined with essential oils such as chamomile, peppermint, lemon or spearmint. You can also add a couple of drops of aloe vera or tea tree oil for a soothing finish.

Soak your feet for 10 to 15 minutes and just sit back, relax and enjoy the sensation. When you are done dry your feet thoroughly and apply a good quality lotion, your feet will thank you and you will love them all over again.
